Details, Details [Sep 24, 2003] I'm busy preparing for The Neal Pollack Invasion's World Tour 2003, so I must refrain today from delighting you with my highly-original political opinions. Instead, a little bit of housekeeping work is called for. A note on the tour schedule. I must apologize to all the people in St. Louis and environs. The show scheduled for October 17 at Frederick's Music Lounge has been cancelled. Instead, I've added another Chicago show for that night, opening at the Athenaeum Theater for the great comedy troupe Schadenfreude. Again, consult the schedule for details. I've also been hired, for this tour, as the unofficial spokesperson for Music For America, a political action committee run by smart young people. According to the mission statement for Music For America, "We believe that the Democratic Party has become a pale shadow of the progressive powerhouse it once was. Many of its leaders reject the energy and enthusiasm of youth and abandon all ties to music and art — a source of strength in the party for decades — in favor of bland centrism, or worse, a blind parroting of Republican ideology." I have no idea what the hell that means, but they made some nice stickers with my name on them, and I will pimp them mightily. Finally, I must remind you that tomorrow will be my last post for a very long time. I'll return, assuming the tour doesn't land me in pill rehab, on November 3. In the meantime, an astonishing team of substitutes will infuse this site with a dose of fresh youthful sycophancy. Led by the reliable Matthew Tobey, this team will include Paul Fisher, Jesse Popp, Christopher Monks, and Donnie Boman. Lord knows what they're going to do to my precious blog. Lord cares, really. I'll be on the road, bringing rock-n-roll magic to you.
